Basler Tops Another Record, No. 16 Blue Devils Split At Labette CC

PARSONS, Kan. - Bradi Basler of the No. 16 KCKCC softball team earned four hits on the day in a doubleheader against Labette CC to break the program record for most career hits, while the Blue Devils split with the Cardinals - winning 7-6 and falling 13-12. 

KCKCC is now 31-9 overall and 12-6 in the KJCCC. 

Basler earned three hits in the first game to match the record at 155 hits. Labette took a 4-3 lead after three innings before KCKCC tied it in the fifth at 4-4. After the Cardinals added two runs in the bottom half, the Blue Devils advanced past Labette in the seventh inning scoring three runs in the frame. KCKCC would manage to shutdown the Cardinals at their last time up at the plate to etch the victory.

Mckenzie Ogden and Basler each had two runs scored. Basler earned three RBI and McKenna Lester added a pair of RBI in the game. Basler earned her 17th win in the circle and struck out six batters.

In game two, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning. The Cardinals however would score seven unanswered to take a small lead. A back-and-forth battle would ensue next and the Blue Devils eventually worked their way to a 12-7 advantage going into the bottom of the seventh frame. Labette somehow found a spark on offense however and scored six runs to walk it off for the win. 

Savannah Maynard had four hits and two RBI for the Blue Devils. Lindsey Gettle added two hits - one on a home run and had four RBI at the plate. Basler had one hit in this game to give her 156 for her career to break the record.

KCKCC returns to action on Monday when they play a doubleheader at North Central Missouri College at 2 p.m.
