No.16 Blue Devils Volleyball Successful Weekend in West Burlington

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's volleyball team took down both Southeastern Community College and East Central College Oct. 19 in West Burlington, Iowa. The Blue Devils have now won eight matches in a row and have only conceded six sets during that span.

In the first match, the Blue Devils took down Southeastern in four sets with scores of 25-22, 23-25, 27-25 and 25-18. There were three standout players on the offensive side who were responsible for 40 of the 57 kills the Blue Devils recorded - Glodalys Colon, Geme Ajekwu and Mercedez Brown. Veronica Rolando tallied 32 assists and Briazia Osborne had 16. Alejandra Aponte had a team high 22 digs along with five assists.

In the second match, the Blue Devils swept East Central College with scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-16. Sophia Frerking had a team high eight kills on her 18 total attempts. Both Ava Rann and Aponte both recorded four service aces. Mayah Pridgett had three block assists and Ginevra Girardo and Avery Bejan both had two. Rolando and Osborne combined for 31 of the 35 assists in the second match.

The next match for the Blue Devils volleyball team is against No.1 Cowley Community College at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.
