Whitcomb Scores Season High, Blue Devils Unable To Defeat Fort Scott CC

FORT SCOTT, Kan. - Lacy Whitcomb scored a season-high 21 points for the Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team, but it was not enough for the Blue Devils to surpass Fort Scott Community College Tuesday night as they fell 83-70.

The Blue Devils are now 11-8 overall and 3-3 in the KJCCC.

KCKCC would put forth a solid first quarter, scoring 20 points while holding the Greyhounds to 17. Fort Scott would be the team to connect on a rhythm in the second period as they went over the 20-point mark and led by a small margin of 40-35 at halftime.

After each team chipped in 18 points in the third quarter, it would come down to the final period. KCKCC fought and clawed, but the Greyhounds scored 25 points in the quarter - on their way to an 83-70 win.

Besides Whitcomb's 21 points, Jennifer Guilbeaux, Faith Putz and Ikia Elam all scored 12 points each.

The Blue Devils will return to the court on Saturday when they host No. 1 and undefeated Johnson County Community College inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
