The late Al Heider is the winningest basketball coach in KCKCC history. In a 19-year career from 1948-67, Heider’s teams compiled a 249-137 record, a 61.3 winning percentage. In a seven-year span from 1949-56, Heider’s teams finished unbeaten in conference play six times and had a 61-1 record. Only three of his teams had losing records and although his final team in 1966-67 finished 13-17 overall, it was 9-3 in conference play. In addition to his basketball duties, Heider was an assistant coach in both football and track.
