Blue Devils Take All Three Matches At Home Tri

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC volleyball team improved to 6-1 on the season after defeating all three of their oppoentns at their first home tri-match of the season. The Blue Devils defeated Lincoln Land CC 3-1 on Thursday before sweeping Southwestern CC and Metropolitan CC Friday afternoon.

Against the Loggers, the Blue Devils lost the first set 25-21 before rallying back to take the next three sets by scores of: 25-21, 25-18, 25-21. 

Carlee Lill and Naomi Jefferson recorded double-digit kills with 16 and 11. Taryn Dial had a double-double of 40 assists and 10 digs, while Emma Ayers (18) and Jo-Annie Perez (16) led the team in digs. 

KCKCC was able to breeze by their next two opponents on Friday, with the first being an easy 3-0 sweep against Southwestern. Set scores ran off as 25-12, 25-20, 25-18. Lill had a team high 12 kills and Gracey Lovgren tallied 10, while Dial added 31 assists. Ayers led with 13 digs and Jessica Gray added 12, while Jayda Watson added another two total blocks similar to the match against Lincoln Land.

Against Metropolitan the Blue Devils took all three sets 25-12, 25-20, 25-18. Lill and Lovgren each added 12 kills and Dial had another 35 assists. Ayers had 16 digs and Perez added 15 for second on the squad. 

The Blue Devils will take the momentum into their conference opening match on Wednesday when they play at No. 3 Johnson County CC at 6 p.m.
