Asya Herron began her role as assistant volleyball coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2020, bringing over a decade of experience from Neosho County Community College, where she served as assistant (2008–10) and then head coach (2010–20) in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. A native of Chanute, Kansas, she was a standout three-sport athlete at Chanute High School before playing collegiate volleyball at Neosho County (2001–03), William Penn University (2003–05)—where she earned a BA in Sports Management—and finishing her D-II career at Pittsburg State in 2008.
Off the court, she and her husband Hunter Spencer are raising their three children—Calum (6), Hendrix (3), and Lennon (2).
