Jordon O’Brien enters her 1st year as Assistant Athletic Director for the Blue Devils.  Jordon is in charge of the business responsibilities within the athletic department along with the day-to-day operations.  O’Brien makes the move to KCKCC after serving as the head women's basketball coach at Highland Community College for 3 years.  At Highland, O'Brien's teams finished 3rd in the KJCCC 2 out of her 3 seasons.  She produced 5 All-Conference honorees and had several players earn NJCAA All-Academic honors.  O'Brien's teams were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team each of her 3 years at Highland.

 

O'Brien embarked on her coaching career by starting as a graduate assistant for one season at Western Illinois University (2010-11) and then joined the Jayhawk Conference as an assistant coach at Independence CC (2011-12) where the Pirates went 24-6 and were ranked as high as #5 in the National poll. Coach O'Brien then made the move to Iowa Central Community College where she was an assistant for two years before serving as the head coach from 2014-2016. As an assistant at Iowa Central, she was a part of teams that posted a 51-16 record in two seasons and earned a trip to the NJCAA DII National Tournament in 2013. During her tenure as Head Coach at Iowa Central her Lady Tritons posted a 20-12 record in her first season and 16-8 record in 2015-16, making trips to the Region XI Semifinals each year.

 

In 2016, Jordon continued her coaching career by making the jump to the MIAA as an assistant coach at Missouri Southern State University and spent two years there before returning to the Jayhawk Conference at Dodge City CC.

 

The Altamont, Kansas native played her collegiate career at Western Illinois University, where she earned All-Summit League honors and was a three-time Academic All-League selection. O’Brien set the Western Illinois record for most games played in a career with 119, while she also ranked fourth in career free throw percentage, seventh in career three-pointers made and was voted team MVP in 2009-10. After completing her college playing career, she played one year with the Chicago Steam of the American Basketball Association.

 

In high school, at Labette County, she was a four-year starter that earned three first-team All-Conference honors along with two first-team All-Area selections including the Joplin Globe All-Area Player of the Year. O'Brien was a three-time All-State selection and earned a Top 10 Player in Kanas with an All-Class honor from the Wichita Eagle in 2006. She helped the Grizzles earn four consecutive trips to the KSHSAA State Tournament, placing third place and a runner-up finish in Class 4A in 2005-06 and 2004-05, respectively.

 

O’Brien earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Western Illinois University and earned her master’s degree in Health, Physical Education & Recreation at Emporia State University.
