Blue Devils Take Three From Barton CC

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - After facing a tough outing against Barton CC in the first game on Friday, the KCKCC baseball team was able to respond and take the next three games in the series. The Blue Devils won the three contests by scores of 10-9, 8-7 and 9-5. 

The Blue Devils improve to 8-2 overall on the season.

Barton CC made things look easy in the first game, winning 15-0 and allowing just two hits to the Blue Devils. KCKCC took care of things in the second game starting with a 5-1 advantage after the first two innings. Barton would take the lead briefly after the top half of the third, but the Blue Devils countered with a three run frame to take an 8-6 lead. Later on in the ninth, Barton tied the game at 9-9, but KCKCC would walk it off in the bottom half to win 10-9. Matthew Buffington and Brayden Vawter each had three hits and Vawter added three RBI. Darius Freeman added a home run and Hunter Cashero got the win late throwing just one inning.

On Saturday, the Blue Devils swept Cougars in both games. In the first game of the day, the Blue Devils rebounded from a 7-6 deficit in the fifth inning to score two runs in the bottom of the inning. Parker Bosserman and Cole Dawson each had two hits in the game, while Bosserman added a team-high five RBI. Bosserman's hits both came on the long ball and Dawson also added a home run. Chase Terrell received the win at the pitcher spot and Bosserman earned the save.

KCKCC got out to a 6-0 lead in the last game after two innings. The Blue Devils worked their way to a 9-2 lead all the way to the final frame. The Cougars would strike for three runs, but the Blue Devils came out on top. Bosserman and Palmer Hutchison each hit two home runs. Brendyn Bard and Buffington each had one home run. Tre Simmons earned the win on the mound and Camden Karlin nailed down the save.

KCKCC returns to action on Tuesday when they play at the KC Urban Youth Academy against Metropolitan CC for one game at 2 p.m.
