Baseball Completes Sweep Over Allen CC, Undefeated In Conference Play

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC baseball team stayed perfect in KJCCC play this week as they took all four games against Allen County CC. The two teams played two contests on Friday with the Blue Devils taking them by scores of 1-0 and 7-5. KCKCC finished off the RedDevils on Sunday with 14-9 and an 11-1 route.

The Blue Devils are now 20-3 overall and 8-0 in the conference. 

The first game on Friday was a slim win for the Blue Devils as they scored their lone run in the fifth inning. KCKCC also managed just three hits as Parker Bosserman was the hero - knocking in Camden Karlin in the frame. Arlen Peters threw five shutout innings and struck out seven batters, while Hunter Cashero picked up the save throwing two innings. 

The Blue Devils would fall behind 2-1 in the third inning of the second game, but grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fourth before the RedDevils tied the score in the bottom half. A back and forth battle ensued as neither team relinquished the lead, countering with one run apiece. Both teams went to extra innings tied at 4-4 where the Blue Devils capitalized with three runs in the 10th inning and Allen CC managing just one run. 

Caleb Adams had two RBI to lead the team and Brendyn Bard scored two runs. Carlin picked up the win on the mound throwing 2.2 innings and giving up just one earned run.

The third game of the series was tight as both teams scored early and often. KCKCC worked their way to a 7-4 lead after four innings. However, Allen struck for five runs in the sixth to take the lead brielfy. The Blue Devils answered with a seven-run output in the bottom of the sixth to take the 14-9 lead before holding off Allen in the seventh. 

Brock Stewart hit a home run in the contest and had two RBI, while Pablo Sanchez led the way with three RBI. Cole Dawson managed a team-high three hits and Cashero earned the win on the mound.

The rubber match on Sunday was nothing short of greatness for KCKCC. They grabbed a 5-1 lead after six innings before striking for six runs over the final two frames. Nine different Blue Devils had one RBI and Tre Simmons moved to 3-0 on the mound throwing 4.2 innings with seven strikeouts.

KCKCC returns to the field on Tuesday for one game at home against State Fair CC. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
