Saturday Packed With Series Win For No. 17 Baseball

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Looking to complete the series against Neosho County CC, the No. 17 baseball team had already defeated the Panthers 8-3 on Thursday after suffering a 10-4 loss in the first game. On Saturday, the Blue Devils capped off the series with a pair of 7-2 and 15-5 victories. The Blue Devils took the weekend three games to one and are now 28-5 overall and 14-2 in the KJCCC.

Neosho struck for the first run of the game in the first contest on the day, but the Blue Devils managd to put five runs on the board in the third inning. KCKCC would allow just one more run over the next four innings, while adding two of their own to complete the game one win.

Brendyn Bard, Caleb Adams and Payton McHarg each had two hits. Pablo Sanchez led the team with two RBI. Cooper Carlgren pitched 5.2 innings and struck out five batters.

In the final game of the slate, KCKCC took the early lead - 3-0 after the first inning. Neosho would add one run in the second inning, but the Blue Devils added three more in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead. Neosho came within one run in the fifth inning, but the Blue Devils offense continued to strike as they added six runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh. That would be all as the Blue Devils won due to the run-rule.

Cole Dawson and Caleb Adams each had three hits and Dawson added a team-high four RBI. Two of Adams' hits were home runs, while Dawson and Sanchez each added one bomb. Camden Karlin earned the win on the mound with four strikeouts in three innings.

KCKCC will next play Monday at Baker University JV at 5 p.m.
