No. 14 Baseball Trades Wins With JCCC To Begin Series

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The No. 14 KCKCC baseball team began their series with KJCCC opponent Johnson County CC on the road Thursday, where the Blue Devils took the first game 5-3 before taking a 3-0 loss in the second contest.

The Blue Devils are now 37-6 overall and 19-3 in the KJCCC, sitting in second place in the East Division.

The two squads went scoreless in the first three innings as the game mounted into an offensive struggle. KCKCC was the first team to get on the board in the fourth inning scoring two runs before adding a third run in the sixth. With a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, JCCC scored a run. However, the Blue Devils scored another pair of runs in the seventh inning to extend their lead to 5-1. JCCC tacked on two runs in the bottom half as the Blue Devils escaped the late inning jam to come out on top.

Palmer Hutchison had a team high three hits and added a home run. Pablo Sanchez added two hits and had two RBI. Chase Terrell picked up the win improving to 4-1 on the season.

In the second game, the Cavaliers controlled the tempo. The Blue Devils were held to five hits over the course of the nine innings, as the Cavaliers added two runs in the third and one in the sixth. JCCC would take this game at 3-0. 

Payton McHarg led the charge for the Blue Devils going 1-for-3 in the game. Arlen Peters took the loss and is now 4-2 on the season.

The two teams will square off to finish the series on Sunday at KCKCC, with the first game starting at 1 p.m.
