No. 15 Baseball Splits Final Two Games With Cavaliers

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - On Sunday, the No. 15 KCKCC baseball team finished their series with Johnson County CC and split the final two games - slipping 7-3 before walking it off in 10 innings, 6-5 in the second game.

The Blue Devils will enter Tuesday's matchup with Baker JV at 38-7 overall. 

In the first game of the day, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning. But JCCC later took a 6-1 lead after adding two runs in the third and four runs in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils tried to counterpunch against the offensive threat of the Cavaliers, but KCKCC only added two more runs in the game as JCCC won 7-3.

Darius Freeman had a team high two hits along with one RBI. Brendyn Bard and Pablo Sanchez also added one RBI apiece.

KCKCC would fall behind 2-1 after the first frame of the second contest, before going up 5-1 after six innings of play. The Blue Devils offense awoke in the seventh and eighth innings as they tied the game 5-5 to keep themselves in the game. Both teams went into extra innings thereafter where the Blue Devils managed to add a run in the 10th to win. 

Sanchez, Bard and Parker Bosserman each had two hits. Sanchez also added two RBI and Hunter Cashero earned the win on the mound after two scoreless innings down the stretch.

KCKCC matches up with Baker JV today at 1 p.m.
