Santiago Carries No.15 Blue Devils to Win Over State Fair, 15-8

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (43-7) took down State Fair Community College (24-27) 15-8 Apr. 30 at the KCKCC baseball field. The Blue Devils have won 43 of the 50 games played this season, tying their record from the 2021-22 season after 50 games. That 21-22 Blue Devil team made it to the Plains District Tournament Championship Game but fell short to Cowley College 6-5 while letting up two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Frankie Santiago had a career day going a perfect 5-5 from the plate while adding eight RBI with his two home runs and double. He had three-run shot in the first inning and kept the Blue Devils lineup moving as they ended with scoring five runs. Then in the bottom of the seventh inning, with a six-run lead, he hit a two-run home run to make it 15-7. Bryson Vawter and Gehrig Goldbeck both recorded two hits and added up for three RBI. The other runs came from a two-run home run from Levi Martin in the first inning.

Carson Rosen (2-0) recorded the win while throwing for four innings, letting up just three hits and three runs, all unearned. He struck out two Roadrunners as well.

The next series for the Blue Devils is against Johnson County Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. May 3 at the KCKCC baseball field.
