
The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team split against No.15 Wabash Valley Community College 6-4 and 3-9 Feb. 17 in Millington, Tenn.
In the first game, the Blue Devils started off hot, scoring all six runs in the first three innings. Tanner Pachorek went for a solid 3-4 at the plate while Colton Kirkham recorded one hit and three RBIs. Kirkham was responsible for bringing in two of the three runners for the Blue Devils in the first inning with a line drive in between the Warrior shortstop and third basemen. Both Cade Parry and Frankie Santiago recorded one hit and one RBI each. Ian Woita was the lone Blue Devil who recorded a double as he went 1-3 from the plate.
Gavin Killion started the game and let in four runs, two earned runs, five hits and four strikeouts in his three innings of work. Caleb Deer and Dylan Blazer threw the final four innings and didn't let up a single hit along with three strikeouts.
For the second game, the Blue Devils were leading 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning until the Warriors exploded for seven runs and never looked back. Pachorek once again recorded a multi-hit game as he went 2-4 from the plate and recorded one RBI. Marcus Dierks and Freddie Nolen IV were the other Blue Devils to record RBIs in this game as they both had one hit each. Woita went back-to-back games with doubles.
Camden Brashear threw the opening three innings and struck out seven batters, walked two and didn't let up a hit. Tanner Warner threw for .2 innings and let up four hits, five runs and struck out one Warrior. Weston Fries, Carter Beach and James Dulle finished the game out for the Blue Devils and let up four runs, walked three and struck out one batter.
The next game for the Blue Devils is at home against Dodge City at 3 p.m. Feb. 22.
