Softball Falls in Region VI Final to Cavaliers
May 12, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team played four games in three days, eventually falling to the (3) Johnson County Community College Cavaliers. After the demanding win over Labette in the opening round, the Blue Devils had a tough matchup against the (1) Cowley College Tigers. They were able to take down the Tigers with a final score of 3-1. Moving to the semifinal game against JCCC, the Blue Devils fell with a score of 9-4. Facing elimination, KCKCC had to take on (2) Neosho County in the semifinals, coming out victorious 5-3. This meant a rematch against JCCC in the championship. Because they had already lost one game in the double elimination tournament, KCKCC would have to beat the Cavaliers twice to be crowned champions. The game went back and forth, but JCCC was able to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the 2025 DII Region VI Softball Tournament Championship. -
Droge Throws No Hitter in Opening Round of Region VI Tournament
May 07, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team mercy ruled the Labette Community College Cardinals with a score of 8-0 on May 6. Alyssa Droge finished the opening game of the 2025 NJCAA Region VI DII Softball Tournament with a no-hitter while recording four strikeouts and just one walk. That makes it four consecutive shutout games for the pitcher from Tecumseh, Kan. -
Softball Finishes Regular Season with Demanding Sweep
May 05, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens with scores of 13-0 and 11-2 May 3. Sidney Sullivan finished her freshman regular season with a bang as she tallied six RBIs and two home runs while going 4-7 from the plate. The Blue Devils enter post season play as the fourth seed and will take on fifth seed Labette in the 2025 Plains District Tournament opening round. -
Blue Devils Allow Two Pirate Hits in Sweep
May 02, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Independence Community College Pirates with scores of 9-0 and 13-0 May 1. There were two pitchers who threw for the Blue Devils in both games and both allowed just one hit each and combined for just one walk. Alyssa Droge went the distance in the opening game and Hanna Acree went the distance in game two. -
Ross Named to NJCAA Softball Hall of Fame
May 02, 2025Lana Ross has been named to the 2025 NJCAA Softball Hall of Fame Class, a prestigious honor recognizing her 22 years of outstanding service, leadership and achievement within the association. Ross currently serves as the KCKCC head softball coach, where she has built a powerhouse program since joining the college in the fall of 2018. Under her leadership, the Blue Devils have compiled a 185-102 record, highlighted by a 2022 NJCAA National Tournament appearance and a national ranking throughout the current 2025 season. -
Eleven Softball Sophomores Celebrated on Saturday
April 28, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team fell to the Cowley College Tigers with scores of 3-1 and 2-1 April 26. The Blue Devil offense struggled in game one as they recorded just one hit. After the game two loss, the softball team held a recognition for 11 sophomores. There are currently three sophomores who are moving onto the next level. Both Kinlei Boley and Kloey Dawes will be playing at Central Methodist University (NAIA) and Alyssa Droge is going to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (DI). -
Panthers Get the Best of Blue Devils
April 22, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team fell to the Neosho County Community College Panthers with scores of 9-8 and 12-0 April 17. In game one, the Blue Devils entered the seventh inning leading 8-3 but allowed five runs to go into extra innings. The very next inning, the Panthers were able to score one run to take the win. -
Blue Devils Strike the Thunderbirds
April 14, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds with scores of 9-1 and 10-0 April 12. The run for first place in the conference standings is neck and neck as Neosho currently leads with a 11-0 record and right behind them is Cowley and KCKCC, both with a 11-1 record. -
Softball Win Streak Snapped at Johnson County
April 11, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team split with the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers with a game one win of 10-8 and game two loss of 9-1. After recording their first conference loss, the Blue Devils are now tied for second place with Cowley (9-1) and behind Neosho (10-0). -
The Dominance Continues
April 09, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds with scores of 12-0 and 8-1 April 8. With the sweep, the Blue Devils have now won 15 consecutive games with a big test coming up on Thursday as they take on Johnson County. -
Droge Strikes Out 13 in Sweep
April 08, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Allen County Community College Red Devils with scores of 7-2 and 8-7. The[KR1] Blue Devils are currently on a 13-game win streak and are in first place in the KJCCC with a conference record of 8-0. Behind them is Neosho County (6-0), Cowley (5-1) and JCCC (5-1). -
Softball Makes it 11 Straight
April 07, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Fort Scott Greyhounds with scores of 3-0 and 10-2 on Thursday, April 3. The Blue Devils are currently tied for first place in the conference with Neosho County Community College. Both teams are 6-0 in KJCCC play and aren’t set to face off against one another until April 17. -
Droge Allows One Hit in Shutout Win
April 02, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team took down the Southwestern Community College Spartans with score of 7-0. Due to weather, the Blue Devils and Spartans were only able to play one game as they were scheduled for a double header. -
Softball Opens Up Conference Play with Sweep
March 31, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Highland Community College Scotties with scores of 8-0 and 14-6. Both games ended early due to the 8-run mercy rule. On the day, Sidney Sullivan recorded eight RBIs, three homeruns and a double. -
Fisher Gets a ‘No-No’ Against Dakota County
March 31, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights with scores of 10-2 and 13-0. In the second game, Lillian Fisher had her first start of the year and completed a no-hitter in her five innings of work. She struck out four Blue Knight batters and walked two while not allowing a single hit or run in the 13-0 win. -
Four Straight Sweeps for Softball
March 31, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Hesston College Larks with scores of 14-0 and 20-3. The Blue Devil offense was on fire as they recorded 34 hits in both games combined while putting up 34 total runs. After this sweep, the Blue Devils have now swept four teams in a row - Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Highland, Dakota County Technical College and now Hesston. -
Strong Defense Aids Blue Devils to a Norsemen Sweep
March 25, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Division I Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Golden Norsemen with scores of 2-0 and 5-3. In both games combined, the Blue Devil pitching staff allowed just seven hits, three runs and walked one. KCKCC now holds an overall record of 14-10 on the season. -
Ross Gets 200th Win at KCKCC in Sweep over MCC
March 24, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Metropolitan Community College Wolves as they won game one 3-1 and game two 11-3. With those results, head coach, Lana Ross, got her 200th win as the Blue Devil leader. Ross led her 2021-22 season to a District Championship while receiving the 2021-22 District Coach of the Year award. -
Blue Devil Softball Receives Third Sweep of the Season
March 24, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team got swept by the Iowa Central Community College Tritons with scores of 7-1 and 7-2. The KCKCC softball team has now gotten swept by McCook (DI), North Iowa Area and Iowa Central. -
Blue Devils Split with Division I Jefferson College
March 19, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team split against the Jefferson College Vikings with a game 1 loss, 5-2 and game two win, 4-1. With those results, the Blue Devils are now 10-8 on the season. They have played three Division I colleges and three Division II ranked teams, totaling for five games. (No.14 North Iowa Area x3, No.12 Kirkwood x2) -
Softball Splits with Wildcats
March 13, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team split against the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats with scores of 4-2 and 6-11. After the first two full weeks of the regular season, the top four highest batting averages are coming from freshman - Ashton Russell (.400), Kaitlyn Cowan (.393), Sidney Sullivan (.375) and Abryelle Hill (.370). -
Blue Devils Host Successful Triangular
March 11, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team hosted a Triangular March 7-9, which included teams from North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), Bryant and Stratton College (WI) and Kirkwood Community College. On Friday, the Blue Devils fell to NIACC 8-6, but took down Bryant and Stratton 4-3 from a nine-inning walk off base hit from Sidney Sullivan. On Saturday, No. 9 Kirkwood mercy ruled the Blue Devils 8-0. In game two of the day, KCKCC turned it around and mercy ruled Bryant and Stratton 8-0. On the final day of the KCKCC Triangular, the Blue Devils swept the day, beating Bryant and Stratton 5-2 and No. 9 Kirkwood 7-1. The KCKCC softball team went 4-2 on the weekend, ending the weekend with three straight wins. -
Softball Drops Series to McCook
March 03, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team lost both games to McCook Community College with scores of 8-1 and 9-5. This makes it back-to-back years that the Blue Devils have lost both their opening series. -
Beep, Beep, Down Go the Roadrunners
March 03, 2025The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the State Fair Community College Roadrunners with scores of 4-3 and 11-1. The first game came down to the final frame as Abryelle Hill stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. After an inside pitch to make the count 2-2, Hill was able to put her bat to the ball and find right field, scoring Sidney Sullivan for the walk-off winner.
