10th Season
A proud Kansas City, KS native and Washington High School graduate, Coach Goldbeck has deep roots in both the community and the Blue Devil tradition. His connection to KCKCC began as a student-athlete from 1989 to 1991, continuing later as an assistant coach from 1993 until 2015. When legendary coach Steve Burleson retired in 2015, Goldbeck stepped into the head coaching role—and remains deeply committed to the program today.
“KCKCC is a family tradition,” Goldbeck reflects. He and his wife, Diana—also an alum (’93), former volleyball and softball player, and current KCKCC Athletic Administrative Assistant—chose to raise their family here. Their two sons followed suit: Kaleb, a Phi Theta Kappa honoree and honors scholar, transferred to Kansas State University; Gehrig excelled on the diamond, earning 2023 NJCAA DI Defensive Player of the Year honors, a spot on KJCCC First Team All-East along with being a two time NJCAAA Gold Glove recepient, and now continues his academic and athletic journey at the University of Missouri.
After leaving his playing career at Washburn University without completing his bachelor’s degree, Goldbeck went on to earn a business degree from Ottawa University and a master’s from Central Michigan University.
