Team Chemistry at a High for the Season

KCKCC Men's Basketball coach, Kelley Newton, is optimistic about his team's performance at this point in the season and rightfully so.  The Blue Devils have won their last 3 region games which put them at 4-4 in Region play and 16-9 on the season.  They are sitting 1 game behind Hesston (5-3) and Brown Mackie (5-3) who they will face this week.  They will play Hesston, who is in first place in region play, Wednesday at 7:00 at home and then will travel to Brown Mackie on Saturday, February 14th for a 3:00 game time.

The men sought sweet revenge against Fort Scott on Saturday with a 84-77 win after losing at Fort Scott on January 28th.  "It was a hard fought game on both sides, I felt we were in control the whole way but we had to remain poised and confident throughout the game," said Coach Newton.  CJ Vallejo led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 7-15 from the floor and 5-10 from the 3 point line.  CJ has been a consistent leader for the blue devils in all areas this season.   "Ray Ridley was a great floor general throughout the game getting everyone involved in the scoring while dishing out 9 assists and scoring 11 points himself," said Coach Newton.  Roberto Hernadez and Austin Hall gave great contributions off the bench scoring 14 and 10 points respectively.  "It was a great team win with everyone playing a vital role," added Coach Newton.
