CHANUTE, Kan. - The KCKCC men's basketball team eclipsed the century mark for the second time this season on Wednesday night as they defeated conference foe Neosho County CC 104-89 on the road.
The Blue Devils are now 19-8 overall and 10-2 in the KJCCC.
The Blue Devils and Panthers were neck-and-neck early on in the first half. The Panthers held a 15-14 lead with 13:12 left, but the Blue Devils tied the game at 22-22 after two free throws from Tomas Teklegregis. KCKCC created some breathing room thereafter making a 23-9 to close the half after Teklegregis made a three-pointer and Bryce Johnson hit two free throws. KCKCC led 54-40 at the break.
Bradley Lightbourne scored the first five points of the half for the Blue Devils before Shayon Janloo hit two consecutive three-pointers making it 65-46 with 16:35 left. Neosho capitalized as they made a long run of their own, clawing back to a 72-67 deficit and eventually tied the game at 75-75 with 8:43 to play. KCKCC would get the last execution run however as they grabbed an 89-79 lead after Cortez Howlett and Keondre Brown hit back-to-back baskets. The run would solidify the victory for the Blue Devils as they hit 100 points with less than a minute left.
Lightbourne led the Blue Devils with 21 points and Caleb Jones added 17.
KCKCC returns to action on Saturday when they play at Allen County CC at 4 pm.
