Men's Basketball Splits Two Contests With Iowa Western CC

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - The KCKCC men's basketball team got a double dose of Iowa Western CC Friday and Saturday, as the Blue Devils defeated their JV squad Friday 84-52 before falling on Saturday to the varsity squad, 88-73.

The Blue Devils are now 1-2 early on in the season.

On Friday, KCKCC got off to a fast start going up 46-31 at the break on Iowa Western JV. KCKCC continued with the same momentum and outscored the Reivers JV team 38-21 in the second half to come away with the easy victory. The Blue Devils shot 51.5 percent from the field in the game, while hitting six three-pointers.

Bradley Lightbourne led the way with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Joshua Dames, Isaiah Williams and Jalen Broyles each had 11 points.

On Saturday the Blue Devils matched up with the varsity squad of Iowa Western and held a one-point lead at the break, 38-37. KCKCC came out a bit sluggish in the second half and was outscored 51-35 falling in the end. 

Dames led the team with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while Jaylon Moses added 12 points. 

KCKCC will return to the court Tuesday when they face Butler CC on the road in El Dorado, Kan. at 7:30 p.m.
