Men's Basketball Falls To Link Year Prep, Defeats Peru State JV

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC men's basketball team played two games this week falling to Link Year Prep, 75-71 before defeating Peru State JV 105-71. The Blue Devils are now 3-5 on the year.

Tuesday's matchup with Link Year Prep came down to the wire. After taking a narrow 43-41 lead at halftime, the Blue Devils did all they could to try to hold off the Lions. Both teams would play to a tie early on in the second half, but KCKCC took a 62-51 lead at the 11:51 mark. Later on however, the Lions went on a 17-0 run to take a 73-70 lead with 1:53 to play. KCKCC was unable to build any offensive rhythm down the stretch and fell 75-71.

Jalen Broyles led the team with 16 points, while Bradley Lightbourne added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jeremiah Stanton also pitched in 15 points.

On Wednesday, the Blue Devils had no trouble defeating the Bobcats after taking a 54-44 lead at halftime. The Blue Devils built a 19-3 lead at the beginning to get things going. Lightbourne, Trasean White and Isaiah Williams would put the Blue Devils ahead by 21 points and the squad hit the century mark with 2:11 to play after a basket from Kevin Charles.

Lightbourne would lead the team with 23 points in 28 minutes, while Broyles added 14.

The Blue Devils are back in action on Nov. 22 when they play at Des Moines Area CC at 6 p.m.
