Men's Basketball Holds Off JCCC Saturday, 80-68

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The KCKCC men's basketball put on a show Saturday afternoon as they defeated Johnson County 80-68 inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse to begin conference play.

The Blue Devils are now 10-7 overall and 1-0 to begin conference play this season.

The first half was filled with counterattacks as both teams went neck-and-neck. Jalen Broyles and Joshua Dames eventually gave the Blue Devils a six-point lead at 25-19 with less than eight minutes left. The squad kept the lead and took a 42-33 advantage at halftime.

JCCC threatened the Blue Devils a couple of times in the second half, trailing by as little as eight points. However, the offensive firepower of KCKCC kept them in position for a victory throughout the second half. Broyles and Jeremiah Stanton scored four straight points and KCKCC led by 10 with less than a minute left, leading them to the win.

Bradley Lightbourne (25), Broyles (21) and Gary Bess Jr. (17) all scored in double-figures for the team.

The Blue Devils return to action Wednesday as they travel to Labette in Parsons, Kan. for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
