Men's Basketball's Late Run Leads To 80-66 Win Over Highland CC

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – On Wednesday night, the KCKCC men's basketball team had to make a late run to hold off Highland CC, 80-66 inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils hit a season-high 14 three-pointers in the game to help them seal the victory.

The Blue Devils record now stands at 12-8 overall and 3-1 in the KJCCC.

KCKCC fell behind 19-13 to start the game, but eventually tied the score 21-21 as Joshua Dames hit a three-point shot with 8:41 left. With less than a minute left in the first half, the Blue Devils trailed 33-31, but Jalen Broyles found an opening at the three-point line and hit a long-range shot to take a 34-33 lead. The Scotties tacked on a free throw towards the end of the period and led 35-34.

Neither team could pull away early in the second half as they traded baskets. But with 7:08 left in the contest Broyles ignited the offense and hit another three-point shot giving the team a 59-57 lead. KCKCC scored nine unanswered points, which ultimately helped them surpass the Scotties.

Jeremiah Stanton led the team with 20 points and Isaiah Williams had a big night with 18. Bradley Lightbourne also added a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

KCKCC returns to the floor on Saturday when they play at Neosho CC at 4 p.m.
