Blue Devils Unable To Hold On Against Highland Saturday

HIGHLAND, Kan. – The KCKCC men's basketball team played a close battle with Highland on Saturday on the road, but fell 70-66.

The Blue Devils are 16-11 overall and 7-4 in the KJCCC.

Highland led 12-9 five minutes into the game before Jalen Broyles made a basket to cut the deficit to one. Jeremiah Stanton and Joshua Dames hit back-to-back three-point shots to give the team a 19-17 lead, but Highland clawed back and led 42-31 at halftime.

Highland controlled much of the second half, but the Blue Devils fought back as Dames and Stanton combined for eight straight points. The Blue Devils trailed 51-50 with 11:54 left. Broyles made a basket and two free throws to give the team a lead, before the Scotties tied the game at 64-64 with 2:39 left.

KCKCC's offense stalled and was unable to regain the lead as they fell in the end.

Dames led the team with 24 points and Stanton had 11.

KCKCC returns to the floor on Wednesday when they host Neosho County at 7:30 p.m.
