Men's Basketball's Season Ends To Allen In KJCCC Tournament

OLATHE, Kan. – Friday night marked the semifinal round of the KJCCC Tournament, where the KCKCC men's basketball team faced off against Allen County for the third time this season. The Blue Devils had won the first two meetings by a combined nine points, but this time the Red Devils got the best of the Blue Devils with a 74-63 win.

KCKCC's season comes to an end as the squad finished with a 19-13 overall record.

The first half of the game was close throughout with both teams finding a rhythm in their offense. Allen went for the early lead at 14-8 before Gary Bess Jr. and Hudson Anderson combined for the next six points to tie the score. Isaiah Williams later capped a six-point lead at 29-23 with just over two minutes to play, but Allen made a run and the Blue Devils trailed 31-30 at halftime.

KCKCC came out of the break scoring six points in the first five minutes. But the team stalled, going scoreless the next five minutes as Allen went on to strike with 12 straight points, leading 53-38. The Blue Devils trimmed the lead to 11 after a basket from Bess Jr., but Allen's Tanner Meyer put a dagger in the game with a three-point basket just seconds later. The lead stayed in double-digits for the Red Devils the rest of the way as they came out on top.

Anderson led the team with a career-high 20 points, while Bess Jr. had 15 points.
