Blue Devils Take Down No. 17 Coffeyville CC Wednesday

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC men's soccer team was able to stifle No. 17 Coffeyville CC Wednesday night in their final home match of the year, 3-2 defeating their second-straight ranked and conference opponent.

KCKCC is now 3-9 overall and 2-8 in the KJCCC.

The Blue Devils were ignited by Pedro Faria's goal to give the team a 1-0 lead at the 15th-minute mark as the ball was able to slide across the goalline before being deflected out. Jacob Thomas would capitalize and give the team a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the second half after receiving a pass from Faria.

With a 2-0 lead, the Blue Devils surrendered a goal to the Ravens in the 83rd minute, but Julien DeAngelis found Ajay Stewart two minutes later giving KCKCC a 3-1 lead. Coffeyville added their second goal in the 89th minute, but it was too little too late for the Ravens to mount a comeback.

Felipe Acherboim led the team with two total shots, while Faria, DeAngelis and Marcos Salgado each added an assist. Axel Tonietto had three saves in goal for the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils will close out their regular season on Oct. 26 at Crowder College with a 3 p.m. start time.
