Men's Soccer Falls To Barton CC in PK's

GREAT BEND, Kan. - A long battle ended in penalty kicks between the KCKCC men's soccer team and Barton CC where the Cougars defeated the Blue Devils 16-15 on the free kicks, after ending regulation with a 2-2 score. Both teams converted their free kicks early on, but after a Blue Devils' miss, the Cougars converted to end the match. 

KCKCC ends their season with a 3-9 overall record. 

Neither team was able to put the ball through the net in the first half as the score was 0-0 at the break. Barton then scored 20 minutes into the second half to make it 1-0. However, the Blue Devils were granted a penalty kick in the 67th minute and Pedro Faria tied the score at 1-1 for his third goal of the season. Seven minutes later KCKCC took a 2-1 lead after Henrique Sant'Anna Zachell got a ball from Jacob Thomas to send the ball into the net. 

Barton was trying to add a game-tying goal late in the match and they capitalized in the 89th minute, to tie the match at 2-2. The game would go into two extra time periods, but no victor had been decided. Each team then went to the penalty box to salvage a victory where the Blue Devils fell in the end.

Cole Caylor led the team with four total shots and Axel Tonietto made three saves in goal.
