KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The No. 12 KCKCC softball team outscored their opponents 47-13 in a four-game slate to begin the week as they defeated Independence CC 12-4 and 12-3 Monday before handling Southwestern CC 9-3 and 14-3 on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils have won six in a row and eight of their last 10 games, improving to 21-5 overall and 6-2 in the KJCCC.

In the first game against Independence CC, the Blue Devils scored five unanswered runs in the first three and a half innings. The Pirates added three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to trail 5-4, but another seven unanswered runs in the final two innings secured the win for KCKCC.

Bradi Basler went 5-for-5 at the plate with a team high three runs scored, while Madison Pope and McKenna Lester each added three RBI. Breanna Droge earned the win in the circle throwing five innings and striking out five batters.

The Blue Devils continued their offensive success in game two going up 9-0 after the first three innings. Three more runs in the fourth inning gave the team a 12-0 lead before Independence added their first three runs in the bottom half. The fifth inning was scoreless, but the game ended due to the Blue Devils posing the run-rule on the Pirates at 12-3.

Savannah Maynard went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored. Lindsey Gettle added three RBI and Basler earned the win at the pitcher's spot.

Against Southwestern CC the Blue Devils showed the same firepower similar to Monday. After falling behind 3-0 in the first two innings of game one the Blue Devils scored two runs in the third and grabbed the lead in the fifth inning with four runs. Holding a 6-3 lead the offense continued to find a rhythm with three runs in the sixth inning and shutdown the Spartans in the seventh.

Lester and Lauren Salpas each had two hits for the squad, while Lester posted a team-high four RBI. Basler earned her 10th win of the season with five shutout innings.

In game two, the Blue Devils got out of the gate with a 10-3 lead after two frames. Another four runs in the fourth inning would be all the team needed to end the game early. Southwestern was unable to get anything going after the second and the Blue Devils run-ruled the Spartans in five.

McKenzie Ogden and Maya Sheldon each had three hits, while Ogden added three runs scored. Her and Salpas also tied for the team lead with three RBI in the contest, while Droge also earned her 10th win of the season with 3.1 shutout innings.
