No. 15 Softball Sweeps Missouri Valley JV Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The No. 15 KCKCC softball team got back on the winning track on Tuesday as they swept Missouri Valley's JV squad by 9-0 and 7-4 scores. 

The Blue Devils improve to 24-6 overall on the season.

KCKCC got out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning before adding another five runs in the second. The offensive output continued in the third inning when the Blue Devils tacked on another run to go up 9-0. 

The defense was able to clamp down on the Vikings as they held them scoreless and the game ended in five innings due to the run-rule.

McKenna Lester hit two home runs in the contest and added six RBI. Bradi Basler earned her 12th win in the circle with four shutout innings, striking out two batters.

In game two, the Vikings put up a fight as both teams went into the fourth inning tied 1-1. KCKCC added six runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings before holding off a late comeback from Missouri Valley. 

Savannah Maynard and McKenzie Ogden each had three hits, while Basler added four RBI. Breanna Droge earned her 11th win in the circle with a complete game, striking out one.

The Blue Devils are back in action on Thursday when they play at Allen County CC at 2 p.m.
