No. 16 Blue Devils Sweep Fort Scott CC To Cap Off Season Series

FORT SCOTT, Kan. - The No. 16 KCKCC softball team wrapped up their season series with Fort Scott CC on Tuesday, defeating the Greyhounds 11-0 and 6-1 on the road. Bradi Basler also made more history for the program, eclipsing the program record for most career runs scored. She now has 137.

The Blue Devils improved to 30-8 overall and 11-5 in the KJCCC.

In the first game the Blue Devils scored often and early against Fort Scott, not giving the Greyhounds a chance. The Blue Devils led 4-0 after two innings and added another two runs in the fourth frame. KCKCC continued to hold the Greyhounds off the scoreboard before adding a five-run seventh to finish the game. 

Basler hit two home runs in the game and Savannah Maynard added a bomb, as Basler had six RBI. Basler also threw seven innings and had 10 strikeouts for the win in the circle.

In game two KCKCC and Fort Scott were tied 1-1 after two innings. After a scoreless third inning KCKCC added three runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning, taking a 6-1 lead. Fortunately that would be all the Blue Devils needed to complete the sweep over Fort Scott for the day and season.

Basler hit her third home run of the day and had three RBI in the game. McKenzie Ogden walked twice and scored another two runs. Basler came in for relief of Breanna Droge to earn her 16th win in the circle.

KCKCC is back in action on Thursday when they play at Labette CC in Parsons, Kan. at 2 p.m.
