No. 16 Blue Devils Offense Erupts For 31-Run Outing Against Coffeyville CC

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - It was all about offense for the No. 16 KCKCC softball team on Monday afternoon, as the Blue Devils shutout the Ravens 11-0 in Game 1 before handing Coffeyville CC a 20-1 loss in Game 2.

The Blue Devils improved to 35-9 overall and 16-6 in the KJCCC.

KCKCC scored eight runs in the first inning of the first game to take the early lead. After both teams went scoreless the next two frames, the Blue Devils added three more runs in the fourth inning to go up 11-0. Coffeyville was unable to get on the scoreboard for the duration and KCKCC won the game after just five innings of play.

Bradi Basler added three hits, while Maya Sheldon had three RBI. Savannah Maynard also hit a home run in the game. Basler earned her 19th win in the circle for the season, striking out four batters in the five innings.

Game two was another offensive explosion for KCKCC. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the second inning. But the big inning of the day came in the third frame when KCKCC put an 11 up on the board to lead 17-0. Another three runs in the fourth inning gave the team a 20-0 lead before Coffeyville hit a solo home run in the fifth to avoid the shutout.

Just like the first game though, the contest ended after five innings due to the 8-run or more run rule. Basler had a big day at the plate adding two more home runs (3 for the day) and six RBI in the 20-1 win. McKenna Lester and Sheldon also hit home runs in the game, while Madison Pope had four RBI. Breanna Droge earned her 15th win of the season in the circle throwing five innings and striking out three batters.

KCKCC has won four games in a row and will now play at Highland CC on Thursday, with the action starting at 1 p.m.
