No. 10 Softball Falls In Doubleheader To No. 4 Kirkwood

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The No. 10 KCKCC softball team faced off against No. 4 Kirkwood in their season opener at home on Monday. The Blue Devils fell in both games by scores of 6-0 and 9-1.

KCKCC begins the season at 0-2.

Kirkwood got on the board in the first inning of the first game with one run. The Eagles extended it to 4-0 after three innings before adding another two runs in the sixth. The Blue Devils tried to combat the pitching staff of Kirkwood, but the offense was unable to get things going.

In the second game, KCKCC got on the board first in the second inning with a 1-0 lead. Annika Smith hit an RBI double to drive in Stella Harber.

Kirkwood quickly answered back in the third with a pair of runs. They then added one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and three in the sixth.

KCKCC will have a break until Sunday when they host North Central Missouri at 1 p.m.
