No. 10 Softball Splits With North Central Missouri College

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The No. 10 KCKCC softball team split their doubleheader on Sunday with North Central Missouri College, falling 14-8 in eight innings before bouncing back for an 11-6 win the second contest.

The Blue Devils are now 1-3 on the year.

KCKCC fell behind 4-0 after the first inning before climbing back with two runs in the second frame. After three innings the Blue Devils trailed 7-2, but they were able to rally back in innings 4-6 to tie the game at 7-7.

Both teams were scoreless in the seventh leading to extra innings in the first contest. North Central Missouri would be the victor claiming seven runs, while holding KCKCC to one run in the bottom of the eighth.

Trinity Tauer led the team with two hits, while Adrianna Smith and Annika Smith each scored two runs.

In game two, the Blue Devils bounced back with a victory. The team got a big boost in the first inning as they took a 6-1 lead. Each team would score three runs in the fourth inning, before the Blue Devils struck for an 11-4 lead after five frames.

The team's defense allowed just two runs in the final two innings to earn their first win of the season, 11-6.

(Adrianna) Smith belted a home run and had four RBI in the contest, while Gabrielle King had three hits and two runs scored. Jayden Hull earned the win in the circle throwing all seven innings.

The Blue Devils are back in action on Tuesday when they play at Ottawa JV.
