Softball Posts Double-Digit Runs In Split With Ottawa JV

OTTAWA, Kan. – The KCKCC softball team split a doubleheader with Ottawa University JV on Tuesday, winning 16-4 and falling 5-1.

The Blue Devils are 2-4 on the season.

In the first contest, both teams put up a run in the first inning. KCKCC would explode for six runs in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. After scoring two runs in the sixth, they had another big inning in the seventh frame with a seven-run outing. The Blue Devils held the Braves to zero runs scored in the bottom of the seventh to shut them down with a 16-4 win.

Annika Smith had a team high four hits, while Samantha Price tallied three hits and knocked in five runs. Landri Lopez pitched seven innings and had five strikeouts.

In game two, the Blue Devils scored first with one run in the first inning. Ottawa plated two runs in the third inning to take a small lead, before adding one run in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Blue Devils were unable to connect after the first inning as they fell 5-1.

Trinity Tauer added one of the team's four hits and scored the lone run.

The Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday when they host Iowa Central at 1 p.m.
