Blue Devils Split With North Dakota State Science

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The KCKCC softball team was back in action on Tuesday as they hosted North Dakota State College of Science. The Blue Devils split the doubleheader falling 2-0 and winning 5-4.

KCKCC is 5-7 overall on the season.

The Blue Devils struggled a bit in the first game as the offense was unable to get anything going. The squad managed an uncharacteristic three hits in the game, while North Dakota scored their lone two runs in the fourth inning.

In the second game, the Blue Devils trailed 1-0 early, but a big fourth inning gave them a 5-1 lead. With less than two outs in the inning KCKCC capitalized getting a few timely hits, but the biggest came when Adrianna Smith hit a three-run home run to left-center field. North Dakota would add a run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth, but they were unable to tack on a tying run in the seventh inning as the Blue Devils escaped.

(Adrianna) Smith had three RBI, while Samanta Price and Annika Smith added one. Jayden Hull threw a complete game in Game two and struck out two batters.

KCKCC is currently scheduled to take on North Iowa Area on Saturday at home with a 1 p.m. start time.
