Softball Splits With Southwestern

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Southwestern was the opponent on Tuesday for the KCKCC softball team as the Blue Devils split with the Spartans, winning 9-0 in five innings before falling 10-1.

KCKCC is 10-9 overall on the year.

In game one, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one inning. The squad would add two more runs in the third and one more in the fourth to take the large advantage. KCKCC shut the Spartans down throughout with the game finishing in five frames.

Annika Smith and Ruby Nola both finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Nola, Jaycee Long and Kaia Cordill each had two RBI. Jayden Hull earned the win in the circle.

In game two, the Spartans were the one to jump out to a lead. After four innings the opposition led 10-0. KCKCC added a run in the fifth inning on an RBI single from (Adrianna) Smith to score Stella Harber.

The Blue Devils are back on the field Thursday at Labette at 2/4 p.m.
