Softball Rides Winning Streak To Four Games

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The KCKCC softball team is riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping Southwestern College and Hesston earlier this week. The Blue Devils defeated Southwestern 10-1 and 11-9, before knocking off the Larks 3-2 and 8-5.

KCKCC is 15-12 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

The Blue Devils got off to a fast start against Southwestern in the first game grabbing a 7-1 lead after two innings. Solid defense helped them shut down the Spartans further, while they scored three runs in the sixth to win by run-rule.

Adrianna Smith hit her second home run of the season and had five RBI, while Kaia Cordill added two doubles.

In game two against the Spartans, Southwestern grabbed a 4-1 lead, but the Blue Devils tied the game in the third before adding a run in the fourth to earn the advantage. In the sixth inning the Blue Devils fell behind 9-5 and had one last chance to gain control, which they did in the seventh. KCKCC put up six runs in the inning before closing it out in the bottom half to earn the win.

Annika Smith had a team-high four hits and Stella Harber added two RBI.

The Blue Devils would close out the first half of the week with a pair of wins on the road against Hesston.

KCKCC returns to action on Saturday when they host Highland at 1 p.m.
