Blue Devils Fall To Highland, Allen County

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The KCKCC softball team faced off against Highland and Allen County during the week, with the two games against the Scotties taking place at home and the two against the Red Devils on the road. The Blue Devils fell to Highland 7-6 and 7-2 before suffering a 6-4 and 8-4 loss to Allen on Thursday.

The Blue Devils are 18-21 overall and 6-10 in the KJCCC.

TUESDAY
Highland jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play in the first game. KCKCC would scratch across two runs in the fifth before Highland added a pair in the sixth. As they trailed 7-2, the Blue Devils climbed back and cut the deficit to one-run with a four-run sixth frame. Highland was able to hold on however and seal the win.

The Blue Devils offense struggled in the second game as they fell behind 4-1 in the second contest. The Scotties scored one run in the third, sixth and seventh innings which catapulted them to the win.

Stella Harber led the team with three hits on the day.

THURSDAY
The Blue Devils looked to get back on the winning trend when they faced off against Allen on Thursday in a doubleheader. KCKCC would narrowly fall in the first game to the Red Devils 6-4 before suffering another loss in the second game, 8-4.

The Blue Devils will return home on Saturday when they host Coffeyville at 1/3 p.m. for Sophomore Day.
