The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (30-16) swept Allen Community College (16-24) 6-2 and 5-3 Apr. 24 at the KCKCC softball field. The Blue Devils answered after this past weekend at Cowley with two wins against Allen and are tied with Fort Scott for fourth place in the KJCCC.
In the first game, the Blue Devils made solid contact while adding 14 hits in game one. Gabrielle King had two hits and two RBI along with a double. Savannah Short hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, which would end up being a four-run inning for the Blue Devils. Sydney Becker was the lead off and recorded two hits. McKenna Lester also had two hits. Annika Smith brought in one run with one of her two hits.
Alyssa Droge went the distance letting in three runs from the five Red Devil hits. She also struck out eight batters.
For the second game, the Blue Devils once again had a double digit hit game with 12. Adrianna Smith had the lone home run in the game and had a team high three RBI. Short had two hits and has recorded a hit in 14 of the last 15 games and 11 of them were multi-hit games. Lester had three hits, one of which was a triple and another a double. This was her second triple of the season.
Hanna Acree threw the entire game letting in three runs from the eight Red Devil hits. She walked just one batter and struck out six.
The next series for the Blue Devils is against Coffeyville Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Apr. 27 at Byers field in Coffeyville, Kan.
