The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (33-17) split with Johnson County Community College (38-8) 6-5 and 1-0 May 3 at the KCKCC softball field. The Blue Devils were winless against Johnson County last year losing 10-1 and 7-1. The Cavaliers are currently leading the conference with a KJCCC record of 17-3 meanwhile the Blue Devils are tied with Fort Scott for fourth place with a 15-5 record. Johnson County had yet to be shutout in the 2024 season.

In the first game, the Blue Devils held a 3-2 lead for 21 straight outs until the sixth inning where the Cavaliers scored three runs making it 5-3 in favor of JCCC. Jaycee Long had an RBI double to right center field in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it a one score game. The Cavaliers added another run in the top of the seventh inning making it 6-4. Adrianna Smith kept the game afloat knocking in Kloey Dawes from second base with two outs making it a one score game once again. The game would finish in favor of the conference leaders winning by just one run. Annika Smith led the team with two hits and two RBI. Dawes, Sydney Becker and Adrianna Smith also contributed for multi-hit games.

Alyssa Droge recorded the loss going the distance and letting in all six runs from the nine Cavalier hits. While walking two, she also struck out nine batters in game one.

For the second game, the low scoring game ended in favor of the Blue Devils due to a double from Long in the second inning scoring Adrianna Smith. The Cavaliers were unable to score a run from their eight total team hits. Besides Long's crucial double, the only two other hits in the game came from Dawes and Kylie Vandervoort.
