Softball Makes it 11 Straight

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Fort Scott Greyhounds with scores of 3-0 and 10-2 on Thursday, April 3. The Blue Devils are currently tied for first place in the conference with Neosho County Community College. Both teams are 6-0 in KJCCC play and aren't set to face off against one another until April 17.

In the first game, Sydney Becker and Kaitlyn Cowan had one hit and one RBI each. Both of their hits were doubles. Abryelle Hill had her second triple of the season as she went 1-3 on the day. The Blue Devils catcher, Lilea Prahm, had one double, one RBI and scored once.

Alyssa Droge went the distance while allowing no runs, six hits, one walk and six strikeouts. She currently leads the conference in wins, strikeouts and ERA.

In game two, the Blue Devils led the Greyhounds 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning with Kylie Vandervoort on first base after getting hit by the Fort Scott pitcher. With a 1-1 count, Kinlei Boley smashed a ball to deep centerfield, completing the 8-run mercy rule to make it 11 straight wins for KCKCC. Boley now has the team's second highest home run count on the season with four. She went 2-2 on the day and brought in three RBIs. Along with two RBIs, Kloey Dawes had two extra base hits as she recorded a triple and double. Ashton Russell knocked two hits and brought in one RBI.

Hanna Acree recorded the win as she threw for four innings while allowing two runs from the seven Greyhound hits. Boley entered the game in the fifth inning and allowed two hits but no runs. She struck out two of the four batters that she faced.
