KCKCC Defeat Highland to Advance to NJCAA Region VI DII Championship Game

The lady Blue Devils righted any wrong they felt a year ago losing to Highland by 4 in the Region VI semi final.  This time the outcome was different.  KCKCC had led at half 31-30 and finished the game with a 68-61 victory to send them to the Region VI Championship game.

                The Blue Devils were led in scoring by Cheyenne North with 19 points and 9 boards.  Sierra Roberts added 10 while Cierra Gaines chipped in 9.  Janai Mitchell led all players in rebounding grabiing 10 boards to go along with her 8 points.  Cassidy Harbert added 6 assists to go along with her 6 points and 3 steals. 

                The Blue Devils out rebounded the Scotties by 16 and shot 74% from the free throw line in comparison to Highland's 40% free throw percentage.  "We have struggled from the free throw line all season.  It was nice to see us connect from the free throw line tonight," said Stambersky.

                The Blue Devils will play Johnson County in the Region VI Championship game on Saturday, March 7th at 1:00 at Koch Arena.  The winner of that game will advance to the NJCAA DII National Tournament.
