Blue Devils Hold Hesston To 19 Points In 53-19 Thrashing

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - After posting nearly a 30-point victory earlier in the season against Hesston College, the KCKCC women's basketball team held the Larks to a record-low 19 points as they cruised to a 53-19 win inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse. 

The Blue Devils are now 13-9 overall and 5-4 in the KJCCC.

A quick 5-0 run to start the game was ignited by De'Jaria Guillroy and Ikia Elam as they made back-to-back baskets. Jennifer Guilbeaux would later close out the quarter with a basket and the Blue Devils led 10-5. Hesston would keep things close in the second quarter despite the Blue Devils holding the advantage. Aysia Arrowood and Elam would end the half with three straight points as the Blue Devils took a 22-12 lead into the locker room. KCKCC's run would climb to nine straight points into the third quarter and the team led 28-12 after a basket by Lacy Whitcomb. KCKCC's lead would grow to 24 points at the end of the third quarter and the momentum continued to stay with them in the fourth quarter.

Hesston would score just four points in the final period as the Blue Devils added 14 on their way to the win.

Faith Putz led the team with 14 points and Whitcomb added a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Guillroy also had 11 points and Arrowood added nine. 

KCKCC will return to the floor on Saturday when they host Highland CC at 2 p.m.
