EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The No. 18 KCKCC women's basketball team traveled to Missouri Baptist University and Illinois Central CC on Friday and Saturday, where the Blue Devils were victorious over Missouri Baptist JV 81-41, but then fell to Illinois Central 81-69 to cap off the road trip.

After easily handling the Spartans JV squad on Friday, the Blue Devils had a tough test in taking on No. 14 Illinois Central. KCKCC fell behind 9-2 early on in the first two minutes. They climbed back in it and trailed 11-8 after a basket from Kaylyn Rogers before the Cougars went on a 10-7 run to end the first quarter. KCKCC never led in the second quarter and fell behind by as much as 12 points. Lacy Whitcomb and Jada Johnson hit 3-of-4 from the free throw line and Illinois Central led 39-30 at the break.

KCKCC's last gasp came when Rogers hit another shot in the third quarter to cut the deficit to seven points at 45-38, but Illinois Central continued to hit shots and never relinquished the lead.

Miaya Ware led the team with 19 points and Johnson had 16 on the night.

The Blue Devils will head into the Christmas break before returning to play on Jan. 7 as they host State Fair CC at 1 p.m.
