Women's Basketball Slips To (RV) Highland CC, 64-57

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Another tough battle for the KCKCC women's basketball team ended with a 64-57 defeat to (RV) Highland CC Wednesday night inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse.

The Blue Devils record now stands at 11-8 overall and 1-3 in the KJCCC.

After Highland grabbed an 11-10 lead after the first quarter, the Scotties extended it to five at 20-15. But within a matter of minutes, the Blue Devils came within one point after baskets by T'Yonne Duncan and Laura Gillamat-Ribo.

KCKCC eventually took the lead back and led 30-25 at the break after a three-point basket from Jada Mayberry. The lead changed again in the third quarter when Highland started to make shots again and led 46-41. After an early basket in the fourth quarter by Highland, KCKCC went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 48 apiece. With 3:13 remaining in the game, Jada Johnson connected on a three-point shot to tie the game at 54-54. The team's offense would stall down the stretch however, and Highland took control to win by seven.

Johnson led the team with 15 points and Victoria Jones added 12.

KCKCC returns to the floor on Saturday when they play at Neosho CC at 2 p.m.
