Women's Basketball Holds On Against Highland Saturday

HIGHLAND, Kan. – The KCKCC women's basketball team surpassed Highland on the road Saturday by a score of 57-53, giving them their second straight win.

The Blue Devils are 17-10 overall and 6-5 in the KJCCC.

It was a tight battle throughout the contest. Highland grabbed a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, but the Blue Devils bounced back in the second – outscoring the Scotties 12-6 and trailed 23-22 at halftime.

Late in the third period, Jennifer Guilbeaux made a basket before Lacy Whitcomb hit a three-point shot as time expired. KCKCC led 40-38. In the fourth, Rebecca Christodoulou stepped up big and hit two three-point shots giving the Blue Devils a 54-50 advantage. Highland got within two points, but the Blue Devils defense and two free throws by Victoria Jones solidified the win.

Lacy Whitcomb scored 14 points and Jones had 10.

KCKCC returns to the floor on Wednesday when they host Neosho County at 5:30 p.m.
