Women's Soccer Surrenders 3-1 Loss To Hutchinson CC

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A tight battle between the KCKCC women's soccer team and Hutchinson CC turned into two unanswered goals by the Blue Dragons, eventually leading to a 3-1 loss for KCKCC. Each team scored a goal in the early portion of the first half before Hutchinson CC added one goal before halftime and another midway through the second half.

The Blue Devils now stand at 1-1-1 overall, while Hutchinson is 3-0.

Hutchinson would add the first goal of the game 10 minutes in after their offense dribbled down the field creating the opportunity. The Blue Devils however would answer back five minutes later when Jana Richter made a nice pass to Jordan Bedard inside the box, before Bedard struck the ball past the reach of the goalkeeper to nod things at 1-1.

The rest of the first half was quiet up until the 42nd minute mark when the Blue Dragons found themselves in the box of the Blue Devils' defense. A first shot attempt was deflected by goalkeeper Karli Angle, but Hutchinson retrieved the rebound and scored to take the 2-1 lead. KCKCC would create a scoring chance later in the period as Bedard took a shot towards the net, but the ball sailed just high. Hutchinson would later add another goal in the 70th minute to take the 3-1 lead.

For the Blue Devils, Bedard scored the lone goal on four total shots. Angle made nine saves in the match and now has 24 on the season.

KCKCC returns to action on Sept. 7 when they play at Neosho County CC at 5 p.m.
