Blue Devils Handle Cavaliers Wednesday Night, 2-1

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC women's soccer team capitalized on their chances Wednesday night against arch-rival JCCC at home, defeating the Cavaliers 2-1. The Blue Devils scored one goal early and added another as the second half began and are now 3-2-1 overall and 2-2 in the KJCCC on the season.

The Blue Devils maintained possession through most of the first half - giving the JCCC goalkeeper fits on keeping the game scoreless. But in the 30th minute the Blue Devils found the net as Jana Richter and Viola Bischoff set up Mia Hurt for the scoring opportunity, where Hurt drove the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead. KCKCC took that lead into halftime and would score three minutes into the second period when Bischoff put the team up 2-0.

The Cavaliers added one goal in the 60th minute, but the Blue Devils defense held JCCC on lockdown the rest of the way to come out as the victor.

Bischoff scored one goal and had an assist, while Hurt scored one goal as well. Karli Angle made three saves on the night.

KCKCC next hosts Cowley County CC Saturday at 5 p.m.
