Women's Soccer Draws With Garden City CC Sunday

GARDEN CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC women's soccer team faced off against Garden City CC on Sunday and finished the match with a 2-2 double-overtime draw with the Broncbusters.

The Blue Devils are now 4-4-2 overall on the season and 3-4-1 in KJCCC play.

The first 10 minutes of the match saw little action, but three minutes later Jordan Bedard gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead after receiving a pass from Mia Hurt. Bedard added another goal in the 23rd minute, her seventh of the season to give the team a 2-0 advantage. KCKCC took that same lead into the locker room at halftime and managed to hold Garden City scoreless throughout the first 70 minutes. The Broncbusters added their first goal in the 72nd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. KCKCC was unable to score another goal in the half, but played great defense throughout the match. Trying to pull out the win, the Blue Devils surrendered one final goal just minutes before the end of regulation. 

Both teams went to the extra periods where neither team sent the ball into the net as the game ended in a tie.

Bedard scored two goals on six total shots and Hurt had two assists and four total shots. Goalkeeper Karli Angle made seven saves.

The team returns to action on Wednesday when they host sixth-ranked Butler CC at 6 p.m.
