No.9 Women’s Soccer Fight Tough Battle against No.17 Hutchinson

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's soccer team (6-0-2) tied the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons (3-1-3), 1-1 Sep. 18 at the Hutchinson Community College Soccer Field in Hutchinson, Kan. The Blue Devils are currently second place in the KJCCC with a conference record of 4-0-1, only behind Butler (6-0-1).

The Blue Devils had a hot start with Cora Ellermann scoring her 5th goal of the season in the 3rd minute with an assist from Jaycee Schumann. Ellermann was able to wiggle through some Blue Dragon defenders in the box and turn and shoot to give the Blue Devils the advantage. While outshooting the Blue Dragons 15 to 13, Hutchinson was able to score an equalizer in the 50th minute. The remaining 40 minutes in the game was scoreless and Maria Heuman recorded five saves on the game.

The next game for the Blue Devils women's soccer team is against Cowley Community College at 5 p.m. Sep. 21 at the KCKCC Soccer Field.
