
FORT SCOTT, Kan. - The (RV) KCKCC volleyball team started conference play back up Wednesday night on the road at Fort Scott CC. The Blue Devils surrendered one set on the night, but ended up with a 3-1 win over the Scotties.
KCKCC is now 17-4 overall and 4-2 in the KJCCC.
The Blue Devils were led by the trio of Nicole Hughes, Naomi Jemison and Carlee Lill on the offensive side. Hughes had 13 kills, while Jemison and Lill added 11 and 10 respectively. Hughes also added two aces from the service line and five blocks on defense.
Overall the Blue Devils racked up 51 total kills and 13 service aces to account for a majority of their points.
"We played well as a group," head coach Mary Bruno Ballou said. "Excellent ball control and we as a group showed a whole lot of courage when needed. Handled a tough Fort Scott home crowd and persevered when it got tough and tight."
The Blue Devils are now 5-1 in true road games for the year, winning three straight.
KCKCC returns to the court this weekend in Columbus, Neb. for the Ramada Inn Classic. The team will play Southeast CC and North Platte CC Friday with the action beginning at 1 p.m., before taking on Northeast CC and Central CC-Columbus on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
